I've just hung my fourth strip and it didn't rip!!!!!!!!! Despite there being an electrical socket in the middle of it. :D This time I totally ignored their instruction to leave it to soak for 5 mins after applying the paste. It just stuck it straight on the wall. It didn't stretch as much either. The joins aren't really visible, so I think I will carry on and see how the rest goes. The next bit isn't going to be very nice because it goes round some boxed in pipes, so a couple of corners to turn. :?

Euw. Good luck with that, Giraffe. I'm afraid I leave the wallpaper hanging very firmly in the "that's HIS job" camp. Since I do every other flipping thing in the house (with no help of any description) I'm NOT going to start doing things like that as well. Mind you, that's probably why it usually takes about 15 years to get a room redecorated...

I've given up for tonight. Trying to summon the energy to have a shower, I feel like I'm coated in a thin layer of paste. :(

Having spent all morning since 8am, at the police station, on the phone to the police and insurance company I'm feeling wrung out.

Conversation with the insurer:

DL. You are covered for a hire car for 21 days
Gir. thank you
DL. Do you want monthly, quarterly, or annual progress reports on the repair?
Gir. :o  :o

They must have got straight onto the tow truck, because it's only about 20 minutes since I spoke to them and the tow firm are 12 miles away and are already here!

 Hopefully they really meant Hourly, daily or weekly! At least the tow truck didn't keep you waiting and wondering when they'd arrive.

I'm thinking of phoning the garage tomorrow to make sure they are on the case and actively sourcing parts etc. Hopefully they will get on with it to get rid of me!

Hire car firm said they will pick me up at 2pm, so hopefully I won't be stranded for long.

They've all been very helpful (in a slow official sort of way) so far, once the police had got their heads round the fact that I live in one force's patch and had my car attacked in another force's area. I was passed backwards and forwards from one to the other a few times before they agreed who should deal with it.

It's all such a hassle isn't it? Best of luck! And I hope Kingsley's hand is OK.

Her hand seems fine, I think it was the really fine bits of glass dust that cut her. :(

AARGHHH!! Red tape. I got a new mobile phone from Orange about 3 weeks ago. Its only mobile if you carry a table around with you because it only rings if its on a flat surface and then just one ring. Miss it if you dare!! Its officially broken and needs replaced. The only day I will be at home all day is Thursday so I asked them to arrange delivery for then. Can't do that. We can only arrange delivery within the next 24 hours. I will ring you on Wednesday to confirm........Except the blasted thing doesn't ring which is why I'm ringing you in the first place. You ring us then. Shall I start ringing now? It took me 3 days to get to speak to anyone

Where is the old handset? Somewhere in the depths of OH's "away". In other words he doesn't know where he put it when he took it because he was going to have it!!!

Its an Orange Atlanta. I was going to leave Orange and try a deal Virgin were offering but my contract ran out in August- not September as I thought. They whacked me with 2 whopping bills because my contract was up(without telling me) so I'd lost all the excellent discounts I'd had for 18months on my mobile and my dongle. The only way I could get the 2 huge bills down to what they would have been normally was to renew for a further year. Neat!!!

I've just decided I'm going to have to take K to her clarinet lesson tomorrow.

She normally goes by train, walks up Pinfold Street and across Victoria Square to Chamberlain Square, a distance of about 200 yards. Unfortnately Victoria Square is occupied by anti capitalist tent dwellers, Chamberlain square has an anti fascist rally and about 100 yards beyond that the English Defence League are gathering. The EDL have been moved away from Victoria Square because of the likelihood of violence. (but are still only a couple of hundred yards from it.) Basically the Conservatoire is in the middle and the three riots demonstrations are surrounding it.

hmmm, that doesn't sound somewhere she would be comfortable going on her own.

Hope you don't run into any trouble.
