Well, I've met Scuffler, and she's lovely. Or as lovely as you can be at 2 days old, when you can't really move properly or smile or do anything yet. She has lots of dark hair, which will probably fall out and come back blonde later, cos it's just like Bun's hair was, and she has properly navy-blue eyes.

aaagh. they're very squidgy when they're so young aren't they?
Is Bun pleased with his baby sister?

He seems to be. He can't say her name, but he keeps pointing and saying baby. And he blew her a kiss!

Ahh! How sweet. :D

When OH brought K to see F in the hospital we got him out of the little plastic cot thing to show her and she took one look and said "Put babby in box". I don't think she wanted to share us.

I'm catching up on a couple of pages of good news and sad news. Sorry to hear about your loss giraffe :(

After being on such a high this time last week (after a night behind the bar dancing to the musicians that were on), I thought I was in for more fun tonight. Another band on, but I couldn't have been more wrong :( Heavy Rock :o Dancing? It didn't even have me tapping my feet and the discordant guitar bits (deliberate I'm sure) felt like a physical pain

It was half way through the second set before I even started recognizing some of the tunes - but others in the room were singing along with them. Even when they said a band I recognized (Paul M and Wings) it was a song I'd never heard :?

Never been so glad for a shift to finish....

Ugh, that sounds horrid.

I've been out two nights on the trot (girls' night tonight!). I'm shattered - can't hack all this going out these days!! Another busy day tomorrow, too.

Congratulations on the new baby. :D

Condolences on the loss of your relative at such a young age and also something that shouldn't have happened, by the sound of it a negligent hospital.

Eeeek! Just took K out for some driving practice for the first time.

She wasn't too bad overall.

I'm just catching up on the last couple of pages too. Congratulations to the Laura/Lilsis family. :D

Giraffe, so sorry to hear of your sad news.

MBH, you are going to be ashamed of me. I've just spent 3 days wallpapering for my mum in Newcastle. On Saturday morning we went into Newcastle city centre. I wanted to collect my just booked train ticket (never again will I not do that!) from the central station, she wanted to go into the Grainger market so we arranged to meet in a designated cafe. I got there first and couldn't help overhearing conversations around me. I'd be exaggerating if I said that I understood more than every 10 words. Its about 12 years since I was last in Newcastle ( mum prefers to come to us as she is still fit at 79 and she gets a holiday- but having guests is a bit too much for her now). The changes are unbelievable.

...Driving to Wiltshire and visiting the hippy contingent. I HATE being on that narrowboat. It's so claustrophobic on there (especially with 10 of us on there). It doesn't help that D's sister built the boat with little round portholes, so you can't see out very easily, and the inside is painted with dark purple and deep orange. and there are loud, clangy wind chimes all over the shop... It's also not a good situation when you have to use the loo. There isn't a door on the bathroom, and it is one of those composting toilets. All very green, and all very yuk. Still, everyone to their own, I suppose. Eventually we went for a pub lunch and then drove back (in the fog which didn't lift all day). I'm shattered!

We went up to London today to the Tate gallery where there is a John Martin exhibition on. Some wonderful paintings especially three depicting the end of the world and the day of judgement. There was also a 10 minute son-et-lumiere show for those three which really highlighted some of the detail in them. Our son joined us and we had lunch in the restaurant there before a quick wander round most of the rest of the gallery.
And like Bunnylump, a horrible journey home in the fog.

Very foggy here too. Went to get K from a friend's and nearly got lost twice. Only ten minutes across town, but I couldn't recognise the roundabouts.

Giraffe - so sorry to hear your awful news. My sister was taken to hospital at the age of 13 and they decided to operate straight away, which was just as well, as the appendix burst just as they were taking it out. She was in hospital for three months with the resulting infection. Mind you that was back in the fifties..... I was 9 at the time and was not allowed to visit at all - strictly no children on the wards :(

I meant to say, remember I told you all about the young lad from our school who was murdered the other week? There was a mass lantern release in the town centre where he died. I thought that was a nice idea.

... singing christmas carols! Yes, I know it's early but it was my choir's christmas concert and we did a selection of seasonal music. Went really well and we had a fab soloist for the Vaughan Williams Fantasia on Christmas Carols.
Think I might be starting to feel it might just be christmas soon!

Oh goodness me, that can't possibly be right. Christmas must be at least 6 months away, isn't it? :? Well, it was last time I looked, anyway.

Glad your concert went well. :D

Spent all day battling with idiotic, pointless exams like PE for year 10 (basically a load of Sport "Science" waffle which didn't make any sense) and Citizenship coursework, which is without doubt the most pointless waste of time known to man.
(Moan, moan, grumble grumble).

Anyway, on another topic altogether, google is quite cool today...try clicking on the little man and then moving things around... :D

Oh....FLIP. Can these few weeks get much worse? I've been saying to D all evening
"I'm sure I can hear the radiator making a ticking noise."

The ticking was getting louder, so I nagged a bit louder too. And as I walked into the hall, I realised what the ticking actually was. It was the water dripping through the hall (and living room) ceiling from a giant bulge. The radiator had burst in the bathroom.  Now waiting to see if the ceiling stays put...

All I can say is AAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!! What next?

PS And I have realised that I am talking to myself. :(

I have a husband who can fix it. However, he is snowed under with work, so the chances of it actually being dealt with are remote. He's shut off the radiator, so it's not getting any worse, but the bulges in the ceiling are very alarming... And although he's good at most things, he's useless at plastering. So keep everything crossed for me!!
