Re: Today I've mostly bin...
...Living in a pigsty.
D has installed a new radiator in the bathroom at last (thank goodness for that, it was flippin' freezing in there - our house is really cold, we don't have double glazing and it is an old house). We went for one of those big chrome radiator / towel rail malarkeys (cost a flipping fortune) but it does look very cool. But this has prompted him to do all the other jobs in the bathroom which I have been moaning about over the past five years. So he's been taking broken tiles off the wall, taken up the horrible carpet which I spilled bleach on about 4 years ago (so we now have floorboards waiting for next stage), ordered a new shower (the old one has been dripping for the past 3 years) and bought new floor tiles. The floor tiles , plumbing fittings, grout, tiles, flooring, new shower, old radiator are currently in my living room, along with another shower (K wanted one fitted in her house too ). There are bits of chipped tile and grout all over the house. He has also been out drumming last night, so we have an entire drumkit in the hallway. Upstairs, I have the spare room filled with both Christmas presents and the contents of all the bathroom cabinets / cupboards.
It is like complete hell here. Although possibly not quite as chaotic as my twin's? (Coming out in sympathy there... )

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I have a divan base on it's end in my dining room. We got Lally a new bed, and I took the old matress to the dump, but the frame came a couple of weeks later than the matress. Brought the divan down to get rid of it and decided to keep it until after Christmas as we need a bed downstairs for MIL, so it seems silly to take it to the dump and then bring another one down leaving one of the kids bedless. We have taken three car loads to the dump in the last couple of weeks, but there is still rubbish in the dining room. It tends to be a dumping zone as we don't have a garage. Christmas will be rather strange as we won't be eating in the dining room.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
We had a Christmas meal in the garage once.
We have a table tennis table out there and there were going to be about 10 of us, too many to fit round our dining table so we ate in the garage. Plenty of space for all the dishes etc.

We will be eating in what was the garage. There will actually be more space than usual, but it may be a bit chilly as there is no central heating out there and the heaters take a while to get going.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Yes, heating was our problem. We have oil radiators out there - installed specially for that Christmas and hardly ever used since. The other problem was that it is across the garden so everything had to be carried quite a distance to the table.

You need a hostess trolley Lat. I tried your cookery thread recipe and it was yummy. I'm sure we can commandeer your garage every now and again. (Just so you get to use those rads

No, sorry, that's my room. I've already told LAT that I am moving in. Where else would I get a room with a view AND my tea cooked for me?

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Hey, I've got an idea. We could have the garage as the boys' dormitory. N wouldn't mind, would he??? And Gill and I can top and tail. The rest of the girls can have a dormitory in your living room. I've got it all planned out.
Anyway, today I have been renamed. And so has LAT. She is now "Dopey" and I am "Grumpy". However, maybe one of these would be more apt...
Rather alarmingly, I actually LOOK like some of them...

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I've just been given back a double flock airbed complete with pump because the person I gave it to originally never used it and told me it should go to a better home. I think I might have just found the home. Ever thought of B&B + evening meal as a new career Lat?

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I bought one of those double flocked airbeds. We only used it the once. Put K and F on it at Granny's last New year and it started to deflate. They found that when one turned over the other one was pinged into the air too! They gave up and one slept in granny's electric (reclining) chair and the other slept on the floor, which was apparently more comfortable than the bed.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Right so I get the airbed, put Bunnylump and Gill on it and let them ping each other in the air each time one turns over!
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Add a little alcohol to the mix and I can just imagine the hillarity.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
I think it sounds like fantastic fun. And at least that way I get to share a room with someone. Last time (after having drunk most of Looby and LAT's cellar which they conveniently had stored in their bedroom) I felt quite lonely going off to my own room. I was quite getting in the swing of it hogging LAT's bed and having a midnight feast / puzzle / eating half chewed coffee creams / singing loudly and out of tune session. I did consider gatecrashing MBH's room but that probably wouldn't have been seemly. And what with having already earned myself a reputation by convincing the man on reception that SparkOut was going to share my room, I thought I'd better not...
PS When can we do it again? It was BRILLIANT fun.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Can I get work and Christmas out of the way first please. After that you'll be very welcome.
We did take rather a lot of wine to the hotel with us didn't we!
You see you needn't have had the room to yourself - the hotel chap was convinced you weren't wasn't he?
