Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Aw, poor you, MBH. You'll just have to postpone Christmas and do it when you can. I'm pretty sure Jesus wouldn't have minded having an official birthday... I can imagine the chaos you are living in, and it can't be fun, especially when it's snowing and nasty things like that. Anyway three cheers to you for ploughing on and getting on with it, you'll get there eventually, and you know you have all of our very best wishes. I'm sending you a very warm pre-Christmas virtual hug right now....<hug> There you go, arms and everything.
I've mostly bin...
going to Brentwood to visit my Dad and his girlfriend. Well, I call her girlfriend, even though she is 71...(mind you, he will be 83 next week, so I suppose it's all relative!!)
My daughter, her boyfriend, my brother, sister in law, niece and niece's boyfriend all went too, and we had a meal in a pub at lunchtime (which wasn't bad, actually, in the scale of pub lunches, at the Eagle in Kelvedon Hatch). So this was to celebrate Christmas and my Dad's birthday next week. It was nice to get together and go out for a change. Unfortunately, my nephew was working, and my son is just, um...useless. He forgot we were going, went to a friend's in Birmingham and stayed over, slept on top of his phone and didn't hear his alarm go off. So he missed it too.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
In a panic -Dutch friends arrive on Friday and there is sooooooooooooooooooo much to do.
We are having a mixture of Dutch and Scottish traditional fare. Hans is making a very alcoholic sppom to have after the fish course. After which we will be having Venison followed by Delias Chocolate Truffle Torte. Always providing we have made it through the Spoom
I hope everyone has a great time at Christmas. MBH I hope things get better for you soon, and strep my fingers are crossed for some good news on the house move soon

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Sadly, I think I might get lynched if I disappeared on Christmas day, however tempting it might sound...
I've been drying orange slices in the oven to make decorations. I'm going to make little bundles with orange slices and cinnamon sticks. They smell WONDERFUL.

Hope it all goes smoothly, Strep. You'll soon find a better house, often these thing are meant to be.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
We lost a house we were trying to buy, when our sale fell through, which would have been much better for getting the children to school (16 miles closer!) but most of the time I'm glad we didn't buy that one, as I like our house.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Best of luck with the move strep. Hope the sanity lasts. And really hope you find the right place for you soon.
Got my hob knob today. How's that for service?

Good luck with the move Strep - you have every sympathy from me... and hopefully you'll find your permanent home soon
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Good luck Strep - hope the New Year brings better progress. I was thinking of you when I was shopping in Exeter last week. We also went to the Cathedral Choir Concert on Saturday evening, which was really super - such lovely music in such a lovely setting - soaring up into that gorgeous vaulted roof.

......clearing my desk, getting rid of many years' worth of accumulated rubbish.
Then tomorrow I just need to do a bit of filing and shove everything else into boxes.

I was thinking of you too the other week when my friend and I were having lunch in the refectory. Hope to see you in the New Year.
Got the keys today, and been to the recycling centre and got some chairs, been given a table so we can at least sit to eat. Having Christmas here and moving 27th we will be without internet from 27th till 30th, so I will be pestering people for help with the puzzles then.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Ah, well, in that case, the e mail I just sent you will make no sense whatsoever, Strep.
Unfortunately, it looks like Christmas day might be a bit of a sad one for you then. I hope you can make the best of it (for your daughter's sake if nothing else) but that when you are moved you settle in and are happy. All the very best for the move and for the new year.
