Number Puzzles

#1 Post by dcfanjo » Mon Jan 26, 2009 10:50 am

I'm sure many of you are familiar with the '4 S of a Y' (4 seasons in a Year) puzzles and I know I posted a Word document of them 'over there' once before. Well at the weekend I came across some which I must admit I have never seen - see what you guys think, I think I've managed to get all but 1 of them.

3 HS of the Z

1926 MMB in LA

4 NT are the P of B

2 B on a W

1952 VBL by RT

350 FA is the ESB

24 GS is the AE

1648 B of GB

2 is the N on the HS

78 F is the L of a TC

32 T for a FAS

1980 BBETW the GS

364 TP in the TD of C

40 MPT in each H of a RM

119 IRC of JL

50 S on OG

55 is the S of the N from O to T

692 F was the L of BGE

60 PB the OKR in M

44 Y of the R of QE the F

Coo. I could only see half-a-dozen on my first pass.

3 HS of the Z (Human Signs of the Zodiac - Virgo, Aquarius and Gemini)
2 B on a W (Bails on a Wicket)
50 S on OG (Stars on Old Glory - the US flag)
55 is the S of the N from O to T (Sum of the Numbers from One to Ten)
60 PB the OKR in M (Pounds Buys the Old Kent Road in Monopoly)
44 Y of the R of QE the F (Years of the Reign of Queen Elizabeth the First)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Hi Scurra

I got all of those although for 3 HS of the Z I put Horned signs of the Zodiac

Giraffe, I put BGE as Brunels Great Eastern

Its great finding some less than usual ones - they are out of CAMRA's London Drinker!

1648 must be* something to do with a Battle (or Birth) but I can't think of anyone with the right initials, so I'm inclined to think it's a Cromwellian thing. (Anyone know anything about Cromwell round here? ;) ) Maybe a European battle I suppose - I'm hallucinating probably, but my subconscious is trying to say the G is German(y).

*the words "must be" are used figuratively!
