Weird...

#1 Post by Bunnylump » Wed Jan 11, 2012 9:02 pm

Now this just goes to show how unreliable the internet can be. I was just looking up some stuff about famous scientists, and found a promising looking site called "famous scientists.net". I was starting to read something about Max Planck, when I noticed something odd about the photo. And then I read the last few lines... There are other oddities on here too...http://www.famous-scientists.net/max-planck.htm

Then I read the homepage. It states that "For instance, the top portions of the web pages are devoted to delivering factual information about the famous scientists, while the bottom portions, or the "rumor has it" part is devoted to nothing more than bald face lies, misinformation, chicanery and tomfoolery."

Weird, huh?

Note: I am Not advocating this site, nor do I think it is particularly amusing. However I am EXTREMELY perplexed as to the sentiment behind it...

You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

How is that "unreliable"? They tell you upfront what's true and what isn't.
Now the problem with Wikipedia is that you have no idea which is which.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

Well, that's true enough. I noticed that, for example, an article on Wikipedia a couple of months ago started
Timothy Henry "Tim" Henman OBE (born 6 September 1974) is a dead English professional tennis player and former British Number One. I see it has now been amended.

Mind you, there are some fairly dodgy bits of information on here, now I come to think about it...

How can you possibly not love it when it informs us that Max Planck loved to "hop like a bunny..." :o
