We are still waiting, with baited breath. Dibble is up at UCL in London, so I hope he doesn't try to come home too late... :? We've got folk coming for a dinner party tonight so I hope they can get home again!

No snow yet but going out to dinner and have just agreed that we walk around so we can both drink.

My sister and her family are coming round for lunch tomorrow and I am cooking casserole in case they can,t get here. Very busy at the shops today - think people were stocking up

OH has shut the college an hour early because of the snow and now I'm waiting for our fence to be demolished. We have slippers and sliders who use our road as a short cut and forget every time that one of them will either get stuck, bash a parked car or take down one of 3 possible fences. Those that manage to miss the fences hit the garden brick wall that our neighbour opposite built because he was sick of it every winter. I've thought about it but I'd rather the fence went down than someone hurt themselves running into a brick wall and so far every time its happened the driver has been honest and knocked . Not that I didnt hear it anyway!!!

I'm back! Dug the car out, 4 -5 inches of snow on it, ddn't realise it was that deep. Going down the hill on the main road was like a ski jump, with the added excitement of going round the roundabout that no one else had used to get back up the hill. (Off piste!) Top speed of 15 mph on the dual carriageway. The snow ploughs are out, but the one I saw was behind me.

We now have a light frosting. I'm sending frantic messages to stupid son to tell him to get on the train before he gets stuck up there but he's not replying.

We've a good coating - probably around 4". Hoping it stays just as it is for around 20 hours, so we can introduce Thomas to the joys of sledging tomorrow, and then disappears in time for my walk to the tram stop on Monday!

Yes...... it can be totally magical at times, and the complete opposite at other times.

Hope Thomas enjoys his sledging :D

We now have about 3-4 inches of snow and it's still snowing. Mad b-i-l got obsessed with fashioning the perfectly round snowball in my living room... :? Cat is horrified, keeps going out, shaking each paw in turn and then coming back in again...

About 5 inches of the white stuff outside fortunately it is thawing and the sun's shinning. Hope it doesn't freeze tonight.

We ended up with about 5 inches of snow. It's making me laugh - I'm periodically looking out of my front window (because I can't do the puzzle I'm trying to do) and there are a load of small children playing on the green opposite me. The two Dads who are there seem to be enjoying throwing snowballs far more than the children are... We also have children sledging down the middle of the road - which is a bit alarming because we are on a long steep hill which ends up coming out into a main road. :?

Not strictly winter but I'm starting to feel like I'm travelling through parallel time zones. Last week I was in my garden, planting seeds in brilliant sunshine. I actually got a bit of a suntan . Yesterday I had to water the greenhouse things I'd planted the week before but this time in curtains of snow. Then we travelled to Withernsea. No trace of snow but lots of evidence of horrendous wind. We counted 5 abandoned tents that were laid flat on the ground and that was just down 2 roads on site. Camper vans with awnings flat or being taken down.Today the sun is shining again. Kids are out in t-shirts and the world here is bright and sunny. Doors open and people everywhere. Very strange.

I've ordered sunshine for weekend of 20th ;)
