I was just listening to Massive Attack - Teardrop and it occurred to me that this is one of a number of songs which you could potentially identify from its rhythm alone. I'm thinking of making a puzzle (don't worry, not for you lot!!) as a game for when I have friends round. I wanted to just have the rhythm recorded and see if people could name the song. (Luckily I have a handy drummer available!) As I started to think about it there must be quite a few of them and wondered if anyone had some more which could work like this?

Perfect.

That video gave me a shiver right down my spine. It reminded me of that time when all the men I knew had that haircut and that noustache. Including my (now) husband.

I was just talking to Maisie about a band I hadn't really heard much about, so I've had a bit of a listen on Youtube. And I liked what I heard a lot.

Oh...goodie. We've just got another addition to the massive stash of musical instruments.

Dibble came home with
1. A new girlfriend
2. An accordion.

We are currently "enjoying" such classics as "Captain Pugwash theme tune"...

Well, yes. Exactly.

He has made a reasonable fist of it (he's very musical) but he says that it's really difficult to play. I'm not sure it's totally my cup of tea to listen to accordion music, however. It's not very SUBTLE, if you know what I mean.

I suppose it depends what you mean by "subtle". It's not subtle in the sense that you probably can't play a lullaby on it very easily, but it's very subtle in the sort of things you can do with it when you know what you are doing, but you really have to know what you are doing - it's a bit like the bagpipes in that respect.

Mind you, nothing can quite compare to the hell of primary school pupils playing recorders, and BLOWING too hard...that is a sound which could very easily make me run away screaming.

Yes, he has. Poor girl is still here. She's upstairs, still playing the (insert appropriate word here) accordion upstairs - because HE has gone out playing football with his friends.

Having only met her yesterday for the first time, it's...um...strange.

I honestly don't know what women see in him.

Stopped work today for my holidays. Fly to Rome Friday morning and arrive there about 2.30 and our friens arrive about 7 in the evening.

The weather forecast is good and sunny - so I shall be leaving a chilly Clydebank and flying into sunshine

We have pre- booked the tours so we can beat the queues.
