Scenarios ;-)
Re: Scenarios ;-)
clvrld, I'm a Brownie leader, and as such, I always have in my pocket, a piece of string, 10p for the phone, a safety pin, a handkerchief, a pencil and a piece of paper. Can I get away with taking this in with me?????
Come to think of it, this could be the first time in 17 years that it's done me any good!!!

Re: Scenarios ;-)
Sorry to the rest of Team Swing, but I am still really confused sbout what I'm supposed to be doing.
I've worked out we're supposed to be getting to the bottom of a pit, but I'm not sure what we are supposed to be doing to work out how to get down there?

Oh, I haven't worked out how it might be of any use whatsoever yet (except perhaps to write my will on the paper with the pencil) but you never know when they might come in useful!!!
Re: Scenarios ;-)
Borrow another pencil and you could knit something useful from the string.

Re: Scenarios ;-)
Brilliant answer Giraffe - that is excatly the sort of thinking we need
Young Kingsley asked if she could examine the rope to see if it is woven together and might be splitable into two (or more) lengths - and if so, how strong the thinner lengths would be (what bodyweight they could hold).
So she is checking the rope while whichever other member of the party who knows Chess joins me at the chess table to examine the pieces and possibly play out the game (is there any indication who's move it is?)

F was chess champion two years running at their junior school, I don't think the competeion was very strong, but I'll nominate him anyway.

Re: Scenarios ;-)
Great - F & me checking out the board and pieces, and if there's nothing unusual we'll play out the game. Moving from square to square might trigger something (dafter things have happened). I'd be interested to know who he thinks would win for both White or Black moving next.... I can play, but it sounds like he's far better than me.
K can be checking the rope, and G can act as 'Mum' and keep an eye on everbody
(while thinking off-the-wall thoughts)
Now we wait for a response from clvrlad...

Re: Scenarios ;-)
I did say the competition wasn't strong. It was a tiny school and some of the others didn't even know how the pieces move .but it sounds like he's far better than me.
Re: Scenarios ;-)
If we're going to end up playing a game of chess, can I just confirm with clvrlad that white's pawns move 'up' the board and black's pawns move 'down' the board
Who's deciding how long the piece of string is!Laura wrote:a piece of string
Re: Scenarios ;-)
well, the official reason for having the string is in case your knicker elastic snaps (!), so do you really want to ask that question?????
Re: Scenarios ;-)
No, I meant you could say that the string was 50 ft long and therefore you could get to the bottom!
Re: Scenarios ;-)
Don't worry, I don't think I;d actually use them. It would be a bit unfair on everyone else.
Re: Scenarios ;-)
dont worry laura you do actually get everything you need to do the scene at the begining of each scene
at the end they nick them back
for the next group going through
at the end they nick them back

Re: Scenarios ;-)
Now I have been considering a public apology to all D and D players for my previous, somewhat offhand comments about men with beards. I am now considering offering couselling for anyone involved in it. It sounds so complicated I think I'd certainly need it. Mind you, I'm no good at anything requiring imagination and logical thinking, so there you go. Good luck all. I'll just try to add the odd encouraging remark, even though I don't understand what the hell is going on.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

well unless the gm asks me about a rule
i do however refuse to bring a rule up unless i get asked
i HATE rules lawyers with a passion and myself when i find myself heading down that path
which is more often than id admit normally
MBH did you play 3.5 edition?
my orc fighter was hitting people with his double handed great sword and an light weapon as an off hand attack
my GM was suprised

Re: Scenarios ;-)
Do we REALLY need to address our questions to "Julian the guild wizard", or are you just being awkward?
(Note: When introducing newcomers, don't be deliberately obtuse)
I specifically said - as 'actions':
EDIT: You have one image of the word, there are others (that fit much better in a D&D world)...
