Tell him to do what my son did in Leeds.

Volunteer to work on the stalls. That way they get free entry and are supervised to a certain extent. ;) Did I ever suggest that to him? Moi? Never! :D

We've got the current wave of rain on the go up here - and 'wave' is the right word for it. Hot and sticky atmosphere.

I don't know about worst Summer ever. As I keep telling the guys at the cricket club, the joy of England is that if you don't like the weather it will soon change ;)

It's been very wet here all day. Finally stopped about 5pm. The roads around the village are flooded in many places. The river has overflowed it's banks and the water running down the fields into it looks like another raging river. Luckily were on a hill so no problems except a little leak in the garden room, a different leak from last weeks.
I had to go out in it and the visibility should have been enough to tell drivers they needed lights and to slow down. Driving at silly speeds and creating bow waves throwing up water and stones is idiotic.
Husband had to take a detour on the way home because one of the lanes had been closed because of flooding. Lots of accidents and backed up traffic on main road at rush hour this evening.
When will it stop?!!

Poured all day here and I was dreading driving along the M6 and through Birmingham this evening, but it cleared up just in time and the roads were pretty clear as we were going a bit later this week.

The forecasters said it is set to stay wet like this for 3 or 4 more weeks!

Poor old Timmy the tortoise might need to transform himself into a turtle out on the patio...

Not so much as what I've been doing today - although trying to get prepared.....

But tomorrow - catching up with friends that I shared a house with at uni - oh some now 25 years ago.... :( :(

...... been bit of nightmare to arrange...at very short notice... one over from Oz and last couple of weeks travelling around Europe and apparently impossible to get onto internet :?: , one from Cambridge and only wanting to travel about 1 hour away, and one from the depths of West Wales...... plus problem of various off spring that we are not sure who are also joining us or who are now giving up on these get togethers........

....plus the one from Oz saying he'd really like to stay in an English country Inn - must be missing the UK!.... and staying near Esher whilst in UK.....

....... guess where we are going????

...... Yes Puzzlebrains to the rescue.........the Premier Inn in Kings Langley (Bunnylump country)....... with thoughts of visting the Ashridge Estate and maybe getting up that tower - plus a car tour of some of the Midsommer murders villages and possibly a visit to that lovely pub where we had lunch...........THANK YOU BUNNYLUMP!!!

:D :D Oooh sounds like lots of fun! Hope you have a lovely time!! Actually, I don't know if this helps, but I think the Bridgewater Arms does accommodation if that makes your life any easier...

Fingers crossed that the weather holds out for you all! And if you spot some muddy drowned rats on their way back from a village festival in Wigginton...deny all knowledge!

I hope the weather is a bit kinder for you down south than it is being for us northerners Chazzie. I have never seen so many wet & soggy people ever. At least we don't have to worry about the garden needing watered.

We rarely hear rain no matter where we are in the house. This morning Colin thought I was running a bath because the sound of it was so loud.

bin to Polesden Lacey (think that's how you spell it?) and seen a spitfire fly-past
bin fruit picking
made jam with the fruit
bin for a five-mile walk through Richmond park

And got home again.

Yes it was. My sister works at Kew (not Lilsis, the other one), so she gets to find out about what's going on, and fortunately my school's mystery trip was this Friday, so I wasn't at school, so it all worked out rather nicely!
