Just a quick question - if and when any of us get out of this room alive, do we keep what we take with us onto the next scenario? Like the bags and the immovable rod. Or if we needed them in the next one, would they be provided again?

I actually don't think this is going to work with two groups attempting it at the same time on the same thread - because we can benefit from knowing what they do, and vice versa.

But we can't really shut it off into private threads because other people will still want to read it (well, one or two of them might!)

Hmmmm.

Notes under the table (that we used to do when the party got split) would not make great viewing for the rest of the forum members :(

Not sure the best way to do this.... That could refer to playing the game OR getting down the 50ft pit

Well I suppose if non-participants would be happy with clvrlad simply writing some posts in the "other" thread which described what happened to each group, without them seeing all the agonising over our actions, then we could just do it all in private forums. And really, I'm not sure that role-playing games are that interesting to simply onlookers anyway.

(Actually, there might even be a way around that. Let me dig around inside the forum software a bit more.)

Well yes, that was what I was asking. If the non-players didn't feel they were missing out on much, then the sensible solution would be to let you (clvrlad) effectively DM both groups simultaneously in private forums and then post the relevant information in the open thread (once both groups had got to a similar point, of course!)

If we can't see what's going on how can we learn so that we can take part next time?

Exactly. That's my problem with what would otherwise be quite a good solution...

well strangly enough i have quiet a few "adventures" that dont rely on the rules of the game...
so i can every so often dust of a "new" one and see if any more volounteers need tormenting...

It's not necessarily the rules that are an issue. It's watching how people think their way around a problem to show what sort of brain processes are required.

Would you be able to make the Team Swing forum open to everyone except the Cutters and vice versa (maybe in a 'read only' format if that's possible). Then when new teams are formed, shut the forums off to that team and give them their own. That way people not involved can learn but not intefere, and people involved have a place to talk without the other team knowing what they're up to.

So, what I need to find is a nice uninvolved person who I can bribe to look at the other forum??? ;)

Don't worry - I won't!

Very good kingsley - and exclusive list rather than an inclusive list :) Depending on how close he can get to the code, he can just change and Equals into a Not-Equals.

MUM - don't look so shocked - she's spot on :)

or if scurras feeling generous he could give each group a thread for each scene then "unlock" them for everyone else

Well I have been trying various solutions today but (as with the issue forums) none of them seem to do exactly what I want them to do (either the members of the other team can see the forum, or no-one can - the permissions don't seem to be working properly.) I shall try again tomorrow. And don't say "it is tomorrow."
