Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Actually visiting LOCAL places - you know, the kind of place which is on your doorstep and you never actually go there?? Walked past the Roman Amphitheatre and for a few miles up a drive past the new Gorhambury House to the ruins of the old one. This was where Francis Bacon used to live. There wasn't much left of the old house, but it was in a nice spot, and walking back we got a good view across the meadows, willow trees and poplars to the cathedral. Then went for a nice pub lunch at the Hollybush - it's in the middle of nowhere on a lane outside St Albans, but has a nice garden.

Ooo! Pretty! That's my idea of a good place to visit. I'm always so much more interested in architecture that has a chance of falling down on top of me than the substantial stuff.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Getting my head around moving our caravan to a site a couple of miles up the road.
This is the equivalent of moving house but moving the house as well. Not only do I have to pack the contents I also have to store them somewhere. I've just sent OH home with a full car of stuff that will all need to be brought back but that I don't need for the next week or so.
It gets worse. We have to be here the day they remove our caravan from our present pitch. We also have to be there when its arrived at its new destination. For all its only a couple of miles up the road the 2 things might not happen on the same day. Nor can we access it to sleep in it at either end if that happens! Nor will we be able to sleep in it until all the safety tests have been completed- which might take a week. AAARRRGGGHHH!

I understand the caravan site you are on does let out caravans very reasonably.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Good luck with all of that Gill.
Today I've bin...
out for a nice walk, lunch and gossip in the Hampshire area. I can definitely recommend the hospitality around there... (Thank you).

Always happy to welcome any passing rabbits.
Or other friends too.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Hope all goes well, Gill! You could do without all that hassle...... Is the new site less at risk of falling into the sea? The sort of weather we've been having this year must be eroding the coastline at a terrifying rate

Yes, I didn't realise you were moving. Why? - is is erosion? Doesn't sound like it's from choice.
Anyway good luck. It may all go more smoothly than you fear

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
No, not because of the erosion. In fact we are moving to the site where the erosion is greatest, except we will be on the other side of the main road and at the very very back so I reckon it will be fine for our lifetime and more.
Reasons are mainly financial, at the moment we pay for facilities we seldom use and the saving is around £1200 per year. Not to be sniffed at now that Colin has retired 2 years early because of redundancy.
Most of our friends are on that site too so it makes sense.

...Driving OH for further eye examinations at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Hope I didn't get another speeding ticket!! The staff were all full of everything Paralympic, naturally (SM is where it all originated from).
Now making more prototype cards, having located some interesting looking paper containing banana skins (they also sold elephant poo paper but I decided to give that a miss ). This is from the Paper Mill in Apsley. http://www.thepapertrail.org.uk/default ... DOC_ID=876They have a steam powered paper making machine, which still works. It was actually the first Fourdinier paper making machine in the country 200 years ago. Really well worth a visit if you are in the area.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
It's apirate ship, but I'm worried that I might have to glue it back together as it now has a 225 mile voyage to get to it's destination. The pirates are aboard, but the canons, and mast will be added at our destination. Spoilered in case Kingsley looks in before Saturday.

My husband just looked in the fridge and started humming the Captain Pugwash tune!
