Poor you. No signs of snow here at all.
How did you know I was about to look for this thread and update on Liberty Gas. I gave them one last chance and an hour to call me back and arrange to paint my ceiling and clean my landing carpet before my head went totally. RESULT!!!
I'm now getting my entire kitchen decorated and all of my carpets upstairs cleaned by way of an apology for their lack of response and dreadful service. Not sometime, not maybe- on Tuesday.
I've also just opened the door to a Liberty Gas man who came bearing a bouquet of flowers and a tin of Celebration chocolates.
Keeping my head has paid dividends

That sounds like a definite result, Gill.
And MBH, what a nightmare!!
I'm really cross because, having made 100 Christmas cards, I now discover that the internet order of "100" envelopes in fact only contains 80. I have just sent a stinking e mail back to "Ideal Envelopes" telling them to send me the rest as soon as possible. I just hope they actually DO that, and that they do it quickly, otherwise my cards can't be sent out.

I tried to get them in Staples (which alleges to be a stationery store) and they don't do square envelopes.

Royal mail!
Just received an empty envelope that I know contained photographs of my grandson and 2 cards. The envelope is in such pristine condition (apart from having been opened) it looks like its been ironed!!

Central heating has just packed up. How's that for timing?

Man coming tomorrow afternoon (hopefully). I suspect the pump and the lady on the phone said he would have one with him, so maybe we will have heat and water by tomorrow night.

Hmmm... that's annoying. Hope you get it sorted OK. Our boiler was making ominous sounding noises this morning!!

Boiler is 2 years old. Pump regularly makes horrendous noises. Pump is presumably nearly 20 years old.

That's no way to talk about your children.
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.

Who started messing up heating systems? Total disaster here

A 5 minute job changing a clock on ours has killed off the whole heating system and he's desperately ringing round to see if anyone has a particular circuit board on their van.
We look to be without heat and water until the morning of the 26th. What a nightmare
Was expecting a horrible Christmas anyway for various reasons, but this puts the tin hat on it.
The most annoying part was that a visit today was offered and I said "No - better leave it till 27th - Christmas Eve is mad". I happened to be in when the engineer gave the 10-minute warning call so I let him come

New pump and valves fitted here, so we have heat and hot water again. Bad news is that he said the system needs a power flush. That will cost £500 ! and my mum had hers power flushed and it sprung a leak in several places, and she was months before it was right again.
I hope they manage to sort yours out MBH.

So glad for the Giraffes

- and so sad for mbh

. What awful timing (sorry about the pun

) ! But at least the weather is abnormally mild this year (don't know how it is 'up North'?). In fact we've hardly had our heating on in the daytime for several days now....

Hope things improve MBH
It's a shame tin tent/wooden hut land is closed. Between me & 123dragon we can sleep at least 16 in 3 different places. That would have sorted out anyone with problems. I'm missing my tin tent this xmas. 123dragon has the days counted until she can get back into her wooden hut.

Glad to hear you are sorted giraffe (until the power flush!) and hope things get sorted for you too MBH.
Maybe we should all head down to the West country. I've just got home from work and it was really cold there. Some people were wearing their coats but I resisted knowing I would need it more when I eventually got to leave.

my turn...
I get to Dublin no problems pick up my phone to text some friends.... not working
So i go buy a cheap phone from Argos (they do sim free ones in Dublin so perfect)
I go to the wedding and realise I can't take photos cheap phone no camera (i had planned to use my phone)
not too bad there's a prof photographer and a video man
back to Dublin for new years eve and the tickets I've booked for the live stuff
so i pop round town again and find an OK camera get it back to the hotel i get changed and head out in to Dublin
realise I've forgotten the darn thing
so i get a couple of basic photos on a bus tour of the city on new years day then come home the early morning following :-/
thats 6 days and almost no photos... no wedding photos and no new years eve photos.....
on the train coming back after the ferry.. its so full i couldnt even get to my reserved seat to see who'd knicked it...
