Places to eat...

#1 Post by gill216 » Sun Dec 30, 2012 3:42 pm

... in our own areas.

I thought I'd start this thread so visitors to our own areas have ideas of where to eat.

Pub grub

Curry or steak night at The Three Hulats, Chapel Allerton, Leeds. I had probably the nicest curry ever here for £5.75 which included a pint! Served with rice or chips, poppadoms and a naan bread +mango chutney. Portion sizes not huge so big eaters may want a starter or dessert. Curry day is Thursday, steak day is Tuesday. Choice of curries or steaks. This is a Wetherspoons so the drinks are reasonably priced too.

The Lord Darcy, Alwoodley Leeds.

Olde worlde style pub and the food is good. Recommend the steaks and ribs. Slightly more expensive than the one above but not a budget breaker.

Italian

First on my list would be Divinos, Otley Road, Adel Leeds. About 4 miles out of the city centre.
I'd recommend absolutely everything on the menu. If you like pannacotta have it for dessert and make sure you've left room for it. Mid range pricing.

Salvo's, Again Otley Road Leeds but in Headingley, about 2 miles out the city centre. Less impressive than Divinos and slightly cheaper but less selection. They will cook to order though. No rissoto on the menu, no problem. Just ask.

Wasabi teppanyaki. (Japanese) Granary Wharf, City centre, Leeds

Before 7pm set menus cooked in front of you at the teppanyaki table. Starts at £22 per head.

Fazenda Leeds city centre, Granary Wharf.

Amazing! Eat as much as you want. They serve 15 different meats, chicken. beef, lamb, pork etc all served from huge skewers and freshly cooked. Fillet mignon to be recommended as is the minted lamb and the pork ribs. The salad bar is a gourmet salad bar and includes smoked salmon, continental meats, fish dishes and veggie meals too. Rices, pastas all in abundance. Every condiment, chutney etc you could possibly think of. Loved the tomato & mozzarello salad but I wish I hadn't put any of it on my plate. Definitely don't have potatoes or bread! Eat the meat instead.

Around £25 per head Mon- Thur and £28 at weekends.

They keep putting things on your table. Dough balls and samosas for starters. A basket of chips midway. The system is your beer mat. Red one side, green the other. Red for dont give me anymore just now, green for give me anything you are passing by with.

OK I read that as "Gran-Airy" as in rhyming with Canary Wharf

Most of the places to eat round here I wouldn't recommend. However, this isn't bad, if you happen to be passing...
http://www.martinspond.com/ and is quite a nice one to do a walk from (if that takes your fancy and you have some walking boots handy - in fact there is quite a good walk on the pub website, I see, incorporating Grim's Ditch, Inns of Court Memorial, Berkhamsted Golf Club, Berkhamsted Castle, Grand Union Canal, Northchurch, Northchurch
Common, Berkhamsted Common, Frithsden Beeches).

Also, for fairly standard pub food which is fairly consistent, I would also suggest The Bridgewater Arms (where we stopped for lunch when PB came to Ashridge) http://www.bridgewater-arms-berkhamsted.co.uk/
