Re: Passing the time
Well, I just looked at my area, and all the symbols look like trees (or bits of tree) so I don't think I'll go out with my shovel straight away.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

Re: Passing the time
Odd things you discover from Google-Doodles - Today's features Maria Sibylla Merian who I would never have come across (unless she showed up in a Scurra puzzle on Art - and you know how much I love them
).
Well worth a 10-minute browse through some amazing art work of a style I can appreciate.

it seems we need to take our shovels to Bristol or Southend...Bunnylump wrote:Well, I just looked at my area, and all the symbols look like trees (or bits of tree) so I don't think I'll go out with my shovel straight away.

Specially for the Giraffe... (personally, I think they faked this one.)

Thanks it had me in stitches.

Re: Passing the time
Very enjoyable
Had me smiling all the way through and some of the pairs work was spot on
Re: Passing the time
OK, now this one is just silly. It's called "Candy Box!"
http://candies.aniwey.net/
It's one of those "figure it out" things. Don't be too quick to jump to conclusions - it definitely rewards a bit of patience. And experimentation... And moments of going "what am I doing?!"

Re: Passing the time
Oh wow - this just could turn out to be a long-term addiction..... yes, indeed, at first you need to hang around for a while to discover what might happen when you do so, and then needs a certain amount of more hanging around whilst you accumulate points to progress, but having said that it looks like a great game for those who tend to leave their computers on an active setting anyway...... Definitely a reward for patience and experiments
Re: Passing the time
I was enjoying playing with it yesterday, but then it went blank, and disappeared.
Re: Passing the time
Well I couldn't get it to do anything. All I had was a button at top left of the page which said SAVE but nothing happened when I clicked it.
Re: Passing the time
that happened to me after it went blank, but I deleted my history etc. and it worked.
Re: Passing the time
You should start with the option to eat candies, which are produced at one per second.
Then you are allowed to throw them away (I've not yet worked out why you should do that!) .
Hang on a bit longer and you will suddenly have other options - and another bit of information at the top of the screen.
You can "save" at any point with a code for re-loading. If you add it to your bookmarks, then when you save again it will automatically put that on the bookmark to reload at a later time. If you leave the tab open and go away to do other things on your computer then the candies will continue to add to your total and accumulate to add to your score.
Be patient and there is more to come

Re: Passing the time
No it wasn't doing the counting candies thing, It just had the save button. I knew what it was supposed to look like because I was quite a long way into the game when it went funny.
Re: Passing the time
precisely. I had just a blank page with a SAVE button, nothing else, not a candy in sight.
So I don't even know what it's meant to look like.
And I just tried again in case it was a temporary glitch but I still just got the blank page.
Frankly it seems a rather fruitless way to pass the time!

Re: Passing the time
That's very odd! I've just tried again and it definitely starts with counting up candies and saying that you can eat them. I wonder why yours is blank expect for the "save"
. Try entering the website directly: http://www.candies.aniwey.net.

Re: Passing the time
I don't seem to be able to go back to it after I've closed it - and yes, I have saved and bookmarked, but it's starting again when I return to the site

Re: Passing the time
Isn't that the same link?
Re: Passing the time
Yes, but I had made a mistake and had to edit it to make the correction. My suggestion was to try it by entering the address in the box directly rather than clicking the link - to see if it starts up properly with the candies counting up. I have saved mine and bookmarked it and it seems to go back to the saved position. The only problem is remembering to save it regularly - I had just gained loads of candies and lollipops and then inadvertently clicked on the wrong button and it took me back to a previous position - Grrrrrr......giraffe wrote:Isn't that the same link?
