So, is that it? Me, LAT, Gill (assuming it's a suitable date), maybe Giraffe (with no puzzle time) and Clvrlad on a Sunday? Anyone else?

Surely we need to start talking about when. I had been waiting to commit until those planning it had suggested some possible dates and I imagine (from past experience) there could be others who might also decide in favour if it is a weekend they could manage.

Personally, if I am going to come, as I think I already mentioned, I could do with some notice in order to book cheaper train/plane fares. I had a look a couple of weeks ago at costs for this weekend (being one I could have managed) and it was coming out at about £120-£150 I think.

Yes it's not cheap - well certainly not with only a couple of weeks' notice.
But unless my chauffeur was planning to go - and even then it is a long time to be in a car :( - I could be doubtful without some decent notice to plan ahead.

So, repeating my question from the end of July,
What dates are being considered?

I'm planning to be up north at some point over half term, but with the rest of the family in tow. Now if we could fit all of us and two sets of golf clubs in the car I could send the boys off to play golf and Lally and I might be free....

That would be good for me. Plus the weekend either side.

We really need a date. Without a date we cant have a meet. :)

AT THE MOMENT (but probably not for long) I have the weekends Friday 25th / Sat 26th and Friday 1st Nov / Sat 2nd not booked up. But I am in the process of organising another weekend away in October so those dates may very quickly go.

Hi All
Have kept out of this discussion to date as wasn't sure I could make dates over the summer. If we do decide to go with the half term dates as stated above - its looking good at moment for me to join...subject to flights etc.

At the moment I too could probably manage either of the two half term weekends. I imagine I would travel up on the Friday (as I don't work Fridays) and back on the Sunday.

When we go up will depend on K's timetable, S's work commitments, and various other things, so I can't make any definite plans at this point.

I could get slightly cheaper trains by booking in advance. But that would mean knowing precisely when to book for.

Does our local host have any comments about dates that would/wouldn't suit him?

Plus maybe some more ideas of what could be on the agenda in case that entices anyone else to consider coming along.

Would we get to see the Angel of the North? I've never actually seen it and would love to. :D

The Angel is a little hard to miss - I pass it at least twice each day, but never actually visited the hill it sits on. That could easily be a visit at some point.

Times are always going to be awkward for me which is why I've left it in everyone elses hands for picking the dates. I've got committments that I can change and others that I can't - but each week is as good/bad as any other.

I'll try and form my random ideas into an 'agenda' tomorrow, planning for a Saturday/Sunday span (????)

Whereas I think everyone else is waiting for you to suggest some dates. Surely the main reason a meet in your neck of the woods is suggested is so that you can more easily attend? So it must make sense for you to suggest dates that could hopefully work for you so that others can comment on whether or not they could attend. It would be a bit pointless if we settled on a weekend that you couldn't see us at all.

I had a look at coaches today - they would be cheaper but would take about 7 hours - and that's from London to Newcastle so I would need to add on at least another hour to get to Victoria coach station. Rather a large chunk of the weekend spent getting there and back again! Flights would be quickest but most expensive. Trains come in between for both.

Whatever weekend we pick I'll get or MAKE some time with the gang - I just can't commit like the other organizers have done in the past.

At work now, so I'll catch you later. :)

If you chose last w/e of October than I will come - with or without car and/or passenger.
Can't do November 2nd as I'll be at Twickenham.

Sorry not been around on here - my mum died.
There's no point in having a last minute if you don't use it!
