... Finally getting round to having the most massive bonfire, trees we have cut down, the shed we replaced, etc. etc. But it was great, sittting out with a bottle of red, warmed by the fire / inferno and looking at the beautiful starry night. Lovely. :D

...or it isn't. Depending on your perspective.

But it's definitely safe to say that the sky is up. Generally. :D

Isn't the sky down in Australia? Or is that not how it works?
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

I am OK. It's the circumstances and timing that's the problem. It's very grave, but nothing anyone can do, although it's nice to have the supportive thoughts. Thank you.

....preparing to move on tomorrow to a rather more remote part of Crete to a cottage in a small village - so not expecting any WiFi !! And of course - not the best place for tackling an on-line edition of PB in my moments of relaxing on the terrace.......
But hopefully will find lots of lovely flowers and plenty of views. Today we walked down one of their famous gorges (Imbros) between towering cliffs - quite hard going in places but worth the effort :D

Laughing over time delays for internet and text messages here on the NE coast at the mo.. Signals carp at the moment but right now doing quite well.

It was nice and sunny and the wind sock ( I can see it from my window on the mini landing strip) was almost vertical so I suggested a 12 mile bike ride we do often, via text, to my friend. I got her message instantly to say "yes, come around as soon as you like". I only got her message to say she was ready and waiting for me when we were at the half way mark 6 miles away. I could have shouted better! She's only 200 yards from me.

.....cleaning my daughter's house ready for new people tomorrow and I expect the first thing they will do is clean it all again.
I have been picking up pieces of Lego and other small toys from all over the house especially between carpet and skirting boards. Not sure why I am keeping it as my grandson will then lose it in my house.
I feel like crying. There are boxes, and bags of clothes everywhere. I am not sure for how long my daughter thinks she is moving in but I think all that was put into storage was her furniture. We now have all the contents of the drawers , cupboards, wardrobes. Why are we getting crockery and cutlery??
Oops just realised that maybe this should be amongst the moaning posts.
Now I just want to put my feet up, recover and hope it's all finished.

Here endeth today's moan :(

Oh, dear! My heart goes out to you. It's REALLY hard when they come back WITH ALL THEIR STUFF and can't see why your previously calm and relatively ordered house becoming a cluttered nightmare makes you cross...

I love my Son to bits but I was SO glad when he went off to live somewhere else again!

...To visit the inside of Ashridge Management College (those who came to the Ashridge Meet may remember driving past it on the car part of the puzzle trail.) I've driven past it and walked past it on many an occasion, and finally spotted that they were having an open day with guided tours inside. So, like a proper old lady, I went and had a guided tour of the house, followed by a cream tea. :D

It's a fine example of Gothic Revival architecture, and was built on the site of a medieval monastery. Interesting to look round, although we didn't get as far as the gardens because it was chucking it down with rain.

No!! That's a link to a Wikipedia picture. I'm RUBBISH at photography! Although I did get a good photo on my phone of the INDOOR weather vane in the roof of the tower. That's so cool. I want one. But as I am too lazy to go and find my phone lead to download it, here is another weblink.

I've never worked out how to get photos off a phone. Do you need a special cable?

Usually just a similar USB lead to the one you use to get photos off a camera. Well mine is anyway. My other phone has a slightly different connector at the other end.
