Settlers is one of our favourite games - although we only get to play boardgames when we are visiting Wulf. (Although Thomas has discovered Snakes and Ladders, so there's hope for us)

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Not just today, but for the past fortnight, getting over a severe allergic reaction to something...
That was one of my ankles last week, both of them were like it. It's slowly getting better now, it looks like some kind of burn. I have no idea what's caused it, so I've got to go for a patch test in November. The hospital said it's probably contact dermatitis and something has touched my skin to make it go like that, so I'm worried in case it happens again.

Oh that looks horrible - and painful.... Hope things improve soon.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Ouch! It ends in a very straight line, so probably was something in contact with your skin. Was it just on your ankle?
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Gosh that does look nasty maisie. Hope it recovers fully and that the hospital can get to the bottom of what caused it so you know what to avoid in the future.
And re playing games, don't get me wrong, I do enjoy Settlers and the other games we sometimes play. I'm just not sure I want to play every evening!
K is away for 3 months altogether this time, travelling in Thailand, Vietnam and China. Plus back to Thailand for a 4-week course before she comes home just before Christmas.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Yes, just on my inner ankles and both ending in a straight line - I have some trainer type pumps that I wear without socks and I am almost certain that whatever it was that touched me was when I was wearing them. Although, when the rash first started, I hadn't worn them for 2 days.giraffe wrote:Ouch! It ends in a very straight line, so probably was something in contact with your skin. Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Just watching the cycle race on TV for which the finish post was about 2 miles away from me. The aerial shots of Hemel Hempstead in that bit makes it like quite nice!

Actually, that bit next to the road has a buried Roman Villa underneath it!

Is that the Tour of Britain? They come within lest than half a mile of us tomorrow morning. We are thinking of going down to the main road to watch them all whizz past.

Yes, it was. It's been a bit tricky getting anywhere today with the roads shut!

Well I don't think we will be able to go anywhere until after they have all gone past.
Re: Today I've mostly bin...
On Thursday they were in Devon, starting out here in Exmouth and belting past the end of our road (about ¼mile) at 11.10.
What was fun is that all the children from our local primary school had been brought up here and carefully sat down all along the pavement on the edge of the road to watch. Goodness knows what they made of it!!!! Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh .... and that's it.
The main reason for coming to Devon, of course, is for the trek over Dartmoor, for the "mountain" test bits. Some of those hill sections are very alarming! It was also quite a hot day. so they must have been really knackered by the end. Not to mention negotiating some terrifyingly narrow Devon lanes - amazing that they weren't crashing all the time.

The roads they ended up on here weren't to bad in the scale of things, at least the last stretch along the Leighton Buzzard Road is relatively flat. Even I can cycle along there...

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Just watched them all go past. Arguably the most exciting part was the large number of police motorbikes that preceded them with sirens blaring and lights flashing. Then suddenly it was all over bar the cavalcade of support cars with spare bikes/wheels on top.
They did have speed humps all along the road but it didn't seem to matter to them!!

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
...Year 7 team building day. So supervising students making "egg protectors" out of straws and sellotape, which had to be dropped from a height without breaking, then all afternoon supervising 31 of them at a time while they ran round an assault course. I'm absolutely exhausted!
