Does she work Looby? Has she investigated how much housing benefit she would get if she privately rented 2 bed accommodation. She must be entitled to 2 bed as she has children. There are online calculators that will tell her how much help towards rent and council tax she can get. Off the top of my head I think the maximum anyone can claim is something like £500 per week!and can't afford to rent privately (approx £750/mth for a 1 bedroom flat).
