Lands End is a hateful place. Grim even in the sunshine.

Just had a lovely meal at 15.
I'm absolutely stuffed. We had the 5 course tasting menu. I don't know how anyone manages the 7 course version.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
...To see the stage production of Warhorse. It was absolutely brilliant; the mesmerising and realistic movement of the puppets actually allowed me to "stop seeing" the puppeteers. I would thoroughly recommend it - but if you do want to go, get in quickly, it's finishing in March.

It's brilliant isn't it? Like you, I started to forget that there were people manipulating Joey.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Have you seen The Lion King? The mix of puppets and "human" performers seems as though it shouldn't work but it does. (So too does Avenue Q, but in an entirely different way!)
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow.
All of my puzzles are simple and obvious. For certain values of "simple" and "obvious".

No, we were discussing that on the way home. It's the musical element that I don't like there though. The Warhorse singing wasn't too overpowering and I quite liked the man with the accordion. But full on musicals are not really my cup of tea.

We saw Lion King many years ago when K had a French pen-friend staying. It seemed like a good choice as we assumed she would know the story from the Disney film. Yes it is a musical and not our normal choice for an evening at the theatre but the costumes/puppets are amazing and it's well worth seeing for them.

... to London to meet my sisters, visit an exhibition at the British Library and end up, as usual, in a wine bar for supper. It was a late celebration for my birthday (we always do it in October as one sister has a birthday just a couple of weeks before mine in June) so I was treated and also came away with lots of small pressies from them and also a bottle of wine from the wine bar manager.
We also went to admire the queue at platform nine and three quarters.

...To Wiltshire, visiting my sister in law and family on their boat. They are currently trying to head towards Bath (where my niece has just started at secondary school) but unfortunately some idiot opened all the valves on a series of locks, which flooded the canal and swept the bank away. Consequently they are stuck just before Caen Locks, unable to proceed until the repairs have been done (about 6 weeks.)
The locks are cool though, there are 29 of them in a row.

My question for today: when are you too old to lick the bowl out after making your Christmas cake?

Not to mention tasting it after adding every new ingredient - just to make sure it's right............

...Sad. My friend's daughter's flatmate has just been shot dead in Paris. Dreadful.

that's awful, Bunny. Please pass on our thoughts and prayers to your friend and her daughter.

It seems to have been venues that attract mainly young people that were targeted. Yes, please pass on sympathy and solidarity to your friend and her daughter
