Whodunnit trail

A few of us are meeting up on Sunday 25th October to do a town trail which I have purchased, and modified! The trail will take us around some points of interest in Berkhamsted (Hertfordshire) on a gentle stroll, where the idea is that you use simple clues to spot various things in order to eliminate suspects and weapons. This really is just a bit of fun, and is most definitely NOT challenging or complicated in the least.

We also plan to incorporate a spot of lunch and good catch up!

Berkhamsted is on the main line from Euston. It i also not far from the M25 / M1 motorways.

Would anyone care to join us? If so, please shout! We'd love to see you.

So far we have: me, LAT, Looby, Chazzie, Scurra and Biscuit interested. Any more? What about any more boys so that Scurra isn't so outnumbered?

So...today I tested my modification #3 with two friends. They managed to do it, and thankfully managed to sort out all of my left / right mistakes!

Here are some possibilities for lunch...
http://boatberkhamsted.co.uk/ This is on the route we walk.
https://bills-website.co.uk/restaurants/berkhamsted/ This is also on the route.
http://www.theoldmillberkhamsted.co.uk/ This one would require a short drive after or before the trail, but there is plenty of parking.

OR we could drive back via Little Gaddesden (some of you will remember this from the Ashridge meet) https://www.oldenglishinns.co.uk/our-lo ... water-arms

I would appreciate it if you would all have a little looksee at the menus and decide which one you like the look of most. I don't care, I eat anything.

I think it would probably be a good idea to book a table.

They all look nice. I'll find something at any if them. Funny fact - we went to bills for my daughters birthday. I had never heard of them and now twice in two weeks.

I'd never heard of Bill's - I hadn't realised it was a chain, I thought it was an independent restaurant in Berkhamsted.

Like Biscuit I will find something at any of them.

I had chicken burger and sweet potatoes fries which was nice. They seemed to have fish, burgers etc

I have PMd anyone who has expressed an interest in this. LAT, Looby and Chazzie have confirmed that they will also be coming to stay here on the Saturday night. So if anyone else is interested in joining us, speak up now!

I have checked my trail (I think) and got it ready to go. The trail should take a couple of hours to do, and sorry folks, but we're doing it even if there is a torrential downpour!

So bring waterproof coat / umbrella and some shoes which you don't mind if they might get a little muddy. There are two short sections on the Grand Union Canal towpath, which aren't usually too bad but are gravel / mud rather than concrete.

A few of us have had a slightly earlier get-together. We've been to the medieval murals at Piccotts End. Typically, Looby is hiding from the photo...

We then had walk through the park and around the Old Town heritage trail. Yes, folks, Hemel Hempstead does have SOME nice bits!

Mini meet here with Fernando, Lally and Mr Giraffe. Off to do the sights in Edinburgh tomorrow. Had a lovely walk on the beach in the sunshine this afternoon.

Sounds like you're having fun, Giraffe. Well, our cultural day started well, but naturally we have descended into lots of bottles of wine and chocolates (like you do.)
