Re: Today I've mostly bin...
We had a cat with no name once. She did start off with the name Aja, but that was because I couldn't think of anything and my husband suggested it deliberately; it was a song by Steeley Dan (who I really hate). When I realised he'd done that just to annoy me I refused to call her that, so she became Cat. I always wished she had a name though. Are you sure you wouldn't like to hold a "name the cat" competition?? It'd be fun.

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
Mog is another good name for a cat.
My brother-in-law has had various cats and dogs called Cat and Dog and JD (short for Just Dog). Fine until you go to the vets and then they think you're a bit strange.
My niece had a cat called Fido

Re: Today I've mostly bin...

My cat's mum is called Piper - because she used to deal with all the rats! Her brother was called Duff legs because he, surprisingly enough, had duff legs. (Poor cat).
My sister in law used to have a cat called Pirelli because she was found in a pile of tyres at Silverstone Race course. And my mum had one she called David (after my son) because he ate so much (like my son).

Re: Today I've mostly bin...
My cats are given elvish names (from Tolkein), so I've had Tanuviel and Lomien (son and daughter of twilight), Rana (the wanderer - appropriately named unfortunately), and currently Duath (shadow - pure black), and Feanor (spirit of fire, ginger with v.sharp claws...).
Our visiting cats are luckier. No idea what their real names are, so we just call them Grey and Patches due to colouring. They both seem to think our house is theirs, especially Grey who is often waiting on the doorstep with ours when we come home from work! One day we must work out where they belong so we can alert their owners to their second (or more probably third or fourth) home.

What a lovely relaxing picture you make - curled up in bed, reading a very BIG book, surrounded by cats
Our 4 cats have now all departed (all 18-20 year olds), but we had Tiggy (temporary name that never got changed), Fluffy (already named at the cat & dog shelter), Poppy (the black & white that looked and behaved like 'Felix' from the adverts), and Sophie (a beautiful grey tabby/siamese mix - Sophisticated Sophie).
Jennie of course grew up from being a pup with the 4 of them, therefor thinks herself as part-cat.

I did, however, watch this piece of video for the second time. If you've got half-an-hour to spare, do yourself a favour and watch it (and read the accompanying piece. If you've never heard of him, Dick Cavett is kind of like a US Michael Parkinson in terms of his style and status on US television.)

yep, and from next week, that's what I'll be doing as much as possible before I don't have time for any reading of my own!MBH wrote:What a lovely relaxing picture you make - curled up in bed, reading a very BIG book, surrounded by cats
..... bin glad I'm only the admin person in our office - all the legal officers are struggling with end of financial year budgetary demands to complete on as many purchases/sales/leases as possible. I'm just sitting there making comments like 'only 3 days left' and 'am looking forward to not being back in the office till October'... Suspect they aren't appreciating my comments much

There you go Scurra! Perfect.

Eirian - you lucky thing. I bet you can't wait!
Not long to go now - although it'll seem like an eternity to you I expect! I have everything crossed for you!!

My sister calls her more contemplative cat Buddha and the irritating one Pest. Capital names don't you agree?
Like the idea of the name Cipher though.

Give the guy a hand! (What's your team name btw?)Scurra wrote:...failing to solve puzzles.
And, for the cat, Enigma or Cipher are nice names. I don't think you'd maybe get away with Meowkins.
