Yes - it's an all-time great :D
This time last year our neighbour took up the trombone and learnt a load of christmas carols just at the right time. I have to confess that it made us laugh rather a lot, which is just as well  Fortunately, they have now moved.......
However, I am intrigued by the prospect of a Giraffe ensemble in concert at the next PB meet - how about it?

Fernando has been playing horn for about three years, but the head of music wants the school horn back (because F doesn't want to play in the school band) so we are having to buy one. He's not as serious about his music as K so we didn't want to spend a fortune, but he has been playing on a good quality, but tatty one, so didn't want a really cheap one. I just hope this one is ok.

Next door reckon they can't hear the music. K tries not to play the sax with the window open in summer  As for the band... Lally on bassoon, Kingsley on clarinet and Fernando on horn ? :?

PS. Anyone else been to the cinema tonight?

We're booked for next Wednesday. It's the first day the three of us are all free.

Was it good?

Looking forward to it. I guess I haven't got time to re-read the book before we go now though.

That's not bad. You could do something with that. You've got a bassline, a melody and a bit of harmony in the middle. What do you want me to arrange???? :D

The Giraffetts formed the core of the PuzzleBrain Band we tried to put together once.

Thanks for that link Scurra - I know a selection of their songs but surprisingly I've never SEEN them. Three cheers for YouTube :D

There are quite a lot of continuity errors in the earlier ones.

I haven't got anyone to go with. :( K is house sitting for my niece, D in Cornwall, my other niece wanted to go with her friends (now 16 so not cool to be seen with Auntie) and OH isn't fussed by HP. Boo hoo. :(

I can supply a drummer, a guitarist and a pianist to your band...and I'm good an humming along tunelessly... I'll make the tea and cakes. How does that sound? :D

And it's REALLY teasing me* to post Youtube things because I can't listen to them (due to exploding computer I am now reliant on stolen work laptop which has access to things like youtube blocked). Interestingly enough, I had NO trouble researching that question which took everyone to lots of dodgy sites... (the one with lots of exotic looking Asian ladies in compromising positions!)

*But then teasing me is Scurra's raison d'etre...

I've tried to work out how to send you the audio file, Bunny, but it won't let me. It says something like it won't accept .wma files??? It's not the same as the video anyway.

Ah, thanks for trying anyway!! :D :D

HEY EXCELLENT NEWS!! I just heard from my friend Brian (another one!) and he's managed to get my computer going!!!YIPPEEEEEEEE!! :D :D The really funny thing was he said he'd found a massive computer bug in it. Only not the normal kind, a REAL bug, about an inch long!!  I'm shortly off to take him and Janet out for an Indian meal by way of a thankyou. :D I should be able to see whatever it is on you tube soon!!

(See, Scurra, this could have been you having an Indian tonight if you'd let me bring you a wheelbarrow full of broken computers to you in London the other month like I threatened...  He said something about not minding looking at friends' computers, but he didn't do things like that for his Nemesis...  But I know he loves me really... ;) )

...Making my Christmas cake. And flippin' typical, the batteries on my scales decided TODA(after the shops shut) would be the best possible day to fail. BUT for once I was glad of my husband, who had a set of scales in his toolbox :D . Air conditioning man to the rescue...

It's cooking now and the whole house smells of cinnamon and mixed spice. :D

I was given a posh set of battery scales as a wedding present. I had to change the batteries about three times in the first few months and I got sick of them never working when I needed them. They may have been faulty, but they literally seemed to need batteries every time I used them, so I gave up on them and bought a very cheap set of manual ones, which are still going strong 20 years later. I have supplemented them with a small £1 set that weigh small amounts more accurately, and they are brilliant too.

I use my old battered manual scales most often too. :D

I also have wafer thin, glass, solar digital scales that I love but they often frighten me. At the press of the button you can calculate the calorie content of everything you weigh. I often dont want to know- but I cant resist pressing that button.

I think my scales are about 35 years old and still fine.
I use spoons and/or a measuring cone that is labelled up for about 30 different items for smaller amounts.
I'd love to make a Christmas cake but no-one else would eat it. :(

Today we have been to Cambridge to buy our daughter lunch and a car. :D

No need to ask which cost the most- unless it was a matchbox car :D . What a lovely mummy & daddy she has.

:D :D Excellent! So pleased to be of help!

And LAT - you got your daughter a car? Isn't it the best thing? When we did it my daughter was so chuffed she looked like she was going to explode! And that little car has been used and used and used. She's driven all over the country in it and uses it every day to get to work (which is about 12 miles away and virtually impossible to get to by public transport). Best thing I've done for a long time.Trouble is I've now set a precedent, and have a very hopeful young man... (Mind you, he can't drive yet, he was so useless with his money he couldn't afford driving lessons!)
